Scan a barcode to add an item

The fastest way to add anything with a UPC — books, LEGO sets, Funkos, board games, video games.

Klepto’s barcode scanner does the boring work: it reads the UPC or EAN, looks up the product, and pre-fills the name, category, and cover image.

Steps

  1. Tap the + button on the home screen or from inside any collection.
  2. Choose Scan Barcode.
  3. Point the camera at the barcode. Klepto beeps when it locks on.
  4. Confirm the details. The name, category, and any catalog cover image are pre-filled — edit anything you want to change.
  5. Tap Save. The item lands in its category and shows up in the Recents strip.

Tips

  • If the scan doesn’t match anything, Klepto falls back to a photo-based lookup automatically.
  • You can add a note or tags before saving — useful for storing where you bought it or what edition it is.
